Mini-camping and B&B Hazenveld Farm and its population

Friday 20 April 2007 Royal lamb
As the camping slowly fills with visitors for the Elf Fantasy Fair and the first guests have left for the castle in their period finery, I want to tell you about our royal lamb. Our last ewe gave birth to a baby sheep on the same day that Princess Máxima delivered her baby. It is a royal lamb, the only white lamb among the black sheep and lambs. We went ahead and gave it the same royal name as its birthday fellow: Ariane. A most unusual sight.

Monday 9 April 2007, the day after Easter: Pete the farmer fan club
A beautiful day and the camping filled to capacity. All the rooms were taken as well, so we had a busy yet enjoyable Easter. Many children wanted to help Pete the farmer milk the cows. A lamb that has to be hand-fed, calves that want their milk: so many things to be done on a farm. And who should pay a visit on Easter morning? The Easter Rabbit! Thank you, Pete the farmer fan club.

Thursday 10 August 2006 Foreign guests from all over
Have we had some busy weeks. The campsite was full and there were lots of guests in the Bed&Breakfast. What made it special was the variety in nationalities. At a certain time we had guests from Spain, Finland, Italy, Germany and France staying at our camping, with some Dutch thrown in who are discovering that the beauty of our region is perfect for cycling. Our B&B guests are usually foreign people. Currently we have a family from Israel staying over. Of course we have adapted our breakfast buffet to their dietary rules. That means no meat and cheese together, so the result is a vegetarian buffet of sorts.

Wednesday 3 May 2006 A treat for the adoptive families
All our adoptive families visited on young animals' day. We gave them a treat in the calves' pen and then brought the young cattle to the fields with Pete the farmer. We always enjoy the visit by families who have adopted one of our cows. Afterwards we had a little chat among the dairy cows in the stable, where the warm cow bodies made for a more agreeable environment.

Tuesday 2 May 2006 Grandpa, grandma and their grandchildren
Spring vacation arrives and what happens? In this day and age both parents have jobs, so, heavens, where can the children stay during this school vacation? The answer: camping with grandma and grandpa. Currently there are more grandparent families on the camping than regular parents with kids! It is a good solution: the parents can stay at work while granny and gramps enjoy the company of their grandchildren. On the other hand… it can be quite tiring too, having these kids around.

Wednesday 24 January 2006 Bed&Breakfast under construction
For two weeks now builders have been hard at work constructing the upstairs rooms. Only now that the partitions are in place is it clear how large the rooms will be. We decided to keep the interior smoke-free, and that goes for the rooms as well. Our B&B guests will have their own outdoor sitting area near the water.

21 July 2004 Official opening of our mini-camping!
In the morning of 26 June 2004 our camping ground was offcially opened in a playful manner by Alderman Hoogwerff Kroon of Breukelen. He opened our camping site with a great sense of humour, dressed as a traditional official, and transforming in a wink to a slick Italian tourist and just as effortlessly morphing into a Turkish or Greek guest. We received enthusiastic descriptions of our "too pretty" farmyard camping, about the varied agro-tourist market, and people enjoyed the tour of our dairy farm. We counted noses and estimate some 300 visitors came to see our new business on this day.
